Mass of car = 2400kg

Initial velocity = 30m/s

Final velocity = zero

Time interval = 10s

We have to find retardation and magnitude of retarding force.

★ Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity.

It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.

It can be positive, negative or zero.

SI unit : m/s²

⭆ a = (v - u)/t

⭆ a = (0 - 30)/10

⭆ a = -30/10

a = -3m/s²

[Negative sign shows retardation.]

Calculation of force :

⭆ F = mass × acceleration

⭆ F = 2400 × (-3)

F = -7200N
