Explanation:

mass of the car[m] = 2400 kg

initial velocity [u]  = 30m/s

final velocity [v]    = 0m/s [ as car came to rest]

time taken [t]       = 10 sec

now, retardation = final velocity - initial velocity/time [retardation = negative acceleration]

                             = 0-30/10        =-3m/s²

   so force = mass × acceleration

                 = 2400kg  × -3m/sec² = 7200 N [force act in opposite direction of motion]
