hey dear
here is your answer

given data :

mass = 2400 kg

initial velocity = 20 m/s

time taken = 10 seconds

final velocity = 0

to find : retardation and retarding force

solution :

by using 1st equation of motion

v = u+at

0 = 20+10a

a = -2 m/s^2

so, retardation is -2 m/s^2

now,

retarding force = mass×retardation

retarding force = 2400×(-2)

retarding force = -4800 Newton

hope it helps :)

Given ,

Mass of the car = 2400 kg

Initial velocity = 20 m/s

Time = 10 s

Final velocity = 0

acceleration \: = \frac{rate \: of \: chnge \: of \: velocity}{time} \\ \\ a = \: \frac{final \: velocity \: - \: initial \: velocity}{time} \\ \\ a \: = \frac{0 - 20}{10} \\ \\ a \: = \: - 2m {s}^{ - 2} \\ \\ since \: the \: acceleration \: is \: negtive \: \\ it \: is \: retardation \\ \\ from \: newtons \: second \: law \: of \: motion \\ force \: acting on \: the \: car \: = \\ f \: = \:ma \\ \\ f = \: 2400 \: \times \: - 2 \\ \\ f \: = \: - \: 4800 \: n \\ \\ the \: retarding \: is \: - 4800 \: n
