a car of mass 2500kg moving with a velocity 10m/sec bought to rest in 5 sec by applying brakes. Find the retarding force produced by the brakers

Given:-

Mass of the car(M)=2500kg

Initial velocity(u)=10m/s

Final velocity(v)=0 (as the car finally stops amd comes to rest after application of brakes)

Time(t)=5s

To find:-

First,the acceleration and finally the retarding force(i.e. force in the opposite direction of initail velocity)

Solution:-

We know that-----

a =  \frac{v - u}{t}

a=(0-10)/5

a= -10/5

a= -2m/s²

Now,by----

F=Ma

F= 2500×(-2)

F= -5000N

Since force is -5000N,thus the retarding force is 5000N.
