Given :

▪ Mass of car = 800kg

▪ Velocity of car = 72kmph

To Find :

▪ Momentum of car.

ConcepT :

❇ Momentum is defined as the product of mass and velocity.

❇ It is a vector quantity.

❇ It has both magnitude as well as direction.

❇ It can be positive, negative or zero.

❇ SI unit : kg*m/s or N*s

ConveRsioN :

↗ 1kmph = 1000/3600 = 5/18mps

↗ 72kmph = 72×5/18 = 20mps

CalcuLaTioN :

\Rightarrow\sf\:P=m\times v\\ \\ \Rightarrow\sf\:P=800\times 20\\ \\ \Rightarrow\sf\:P=16\times 1000\\ \\ \Rightarrow\underline{\boxed{\bf{\color{plum}{P=16\:kNs^{-1}}}}}\:\orange{\bigstar}

\huge{\boxed{Question}}

A car of mass 800 kg is moving at a uniform velocity of 72 km per hour .Find it's momentum.

\huge{\boxed{Answer}}

Given,

---->Mass of a car = 800kg

----->Velocity of a car = 72km/h

To Find:-

Momentum of a car.

Now....

P = m×v

p= momentum

m= mass

V = velocity

----->P = m×v

------->P=800×20

----->P=16×100

p = 16kn {s}^{ - 1}

Additional information:-

{\pink{\underline{\boxed{Momentum:}}}}

  • Momentum is a product of mass of a particle and it's velocity.

  • Momentum had both magnitude and direction(Vector quantity).

  • SI unit of momentum is kg.m/s

  • Dimension formula is MLT^-1.

Angular momentum and Linear momentum are the two types of momentum.

Ex:- How fastly a car is moving down a hill is an example of Momentum.
