A car of mass 900 kg is travelling at a steady speed of 30 metre per second against a resistive force of 2000 Newton .Calculate the kinetic energy of the car. Calculate the energy used in 1. 0 second against the resistive force .What is the minimum part that the car engine has to deliver to the wheels . what form of energy is in the fuel used by engine to drive the car.

The kinetic energy of the car is  405   KJ.

Energy used in 1.0 second against the resistive force is  60 KJ.

Minimum power that the car engine has to deliver to the wheels is 60 KW .

The energy stored in chemical form in fuel is used by engine to drive the car.

1. Here mass = 900 Kg

          speed = 30 meter per second.

       kinetic energy = 1/2*m*v^{2}

                                 = 1/2*900*30*30

                                 = 405 KJ

2. Energy used = work done against the resistive force.

  here displacement in 1 second = velocity* time

                                                      =30*1

                                                      = 30 meter.

Therefore work done= energy used = Force*displacement

                                                            =2000*30

                                                            =60 KJ

3. Minimum power = Work done/time

                               = 60 KJ/ 1 second

                               = 60 KW
