Given:

A car of mass m is at rest.in time t it's velocity becomes v under the influence of force "f".

To find:

What does mv/t represent?

Calculation:

So, initially the car is at rest and then attains of final velocity "v" after a time t.

So, change in Momentum is :

  \sf\therefore \: \Delta P = mv - 0

  \sf = >   \: \Delta P = mv

Now , calculating the rate of change of Momentum with respect to time:

 \sf \therefore \:  \dfrac{\Delta P}{\Delta t}  =  \dfrac{mv}{t - 0}

 \boxed{ \sf  =  >  \:  \dfrac{\Delta P}{\Delta t}  =  \dfrac{mv}{t } }

So, we can say that mv/t actually represents the instantaneous rate of change of momentum of the car.

This is also referred to as the FORCE

 \boxed{ \bold{  \:  \dfrac{\Delta P}{\Delta t}  =  \dfrac{mv}{t } = f }}

Hope It Helps.
