Answer: 3000 N

Explanation:

Mass of car(m) = 1000 kg

Initial velocity (u) = 54 km /hr = 54*1000 /(60*60 ) =15m/s

Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s ---> car comes to rest

Time taken ( t) = 5 s

Now, Acceleration ( a ) = v-u /t = (0 - 15 )/5 = -3 m/s^2

Then,

Force (F) = m*a

= 1000 * 3  ------> taking positive value of a

= 3000 N

Initial Velocity (u) = 54 km/hr

Time Taken (t) = 5 second

Mass of the car = 1000 kg

Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s [Car stopped]

TO FIND:

What is the magnitude of force applied on the body ?

SOLUTION:

Let the acceleration of the car be 'a' m/s²

Initial Velocity = 54 km/hr

Change the initial Velocity in m/s:-

u = 54 km/hr

u =

u = 15 m/s

To find the acceleration of the car, we use the formula:-

According to question:-

❝ The acceleration of the car is –3 m/s² ❞

We know the formula for finding the force is:-

On putting the given values in the formula, we get

❝ Hence, the magnitude of force applied on the car is 3000 N ❞
