To consider a think to be living it must not based only on one qualification . Yes as said in the question the car can move , consume ,excrete,but it is still non loving . But if consider as a whole there are many other things suitable of living depending on one quality . So , therefore living beings have been defined as:

1. Can obtain nutrition from nutrients

2. Can reproduce offspring

3. Locomotive

4. Can obtain growth etc

Now, in contrast to the car the car can obtain nutrition , locomote whereas cannot reproduce offspring or even grow .

It consumes wood , produce energy , excrete smoke but can't reproduce fertile offsprings nor development or growth ,thereby non living
