Dear Student,

◆ Answer - (D)

v = 48 km/h

● Explanation -

Let s be distance between P and Q. A car runs 2 × s/2 = s distance with speed 40 km/h and runs 2 × s/2 = s distance with speed 60 km/h.

Total distance travelled is -

s' = s + s

s' = 2s

Total time taken is -

t' = t1 + t2

t' = s/40 + s/60

t' = s/24

So average velocity is -

v = s' / t'

v = (2s) / (s/24)

v = 48 km/h

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..
