Given: A car running on a circular part of highway having 1000 m radius. The mass of car is 600kg and its velocity is 72kmph.

To find: 1- Centripetal force exerted by the car

2- Centripetal acceleration of the car

Explanation: Let the mass of the car me m, radius of the car be r and velocity of the car be v.

m= 600 kg

r = 1000 m

v ( in kmph) = 72 kmph

To change this speed given in kmph to metre per second, we multiply the given quantity by 5/18.

v ( in m/s) = 72 * 5/18

= 4*5 m/s

= 20 m/s

Centripetal force is the force that is required to keep the body moving in circular motion.

The formula for centripetal force is:

= \frac{m {v}^{2} }{r}

= \frac{600 \times  {20}^{2} }{1000}

= \frac{600 \times 400}{1000}

=240 N

The formula for centripetal acceleration is:

= \frac{ {v}^{2} }{r}

= \frac{ {20}^{2} }{1000}

= \frac{400}{1000}

=0.4 m/s^2

Therefore, the centripetal force is 240 N and centripetal acceleration is 0.4 m/s^2.
