Question:

A car runs 16 km using 1 litre of petrol. How much distance will it cover using \sf 2 \dfrac{3}{4} litres of petrol ?

Solution:

Given,

A car takes 1 litre petrol to runs 16 km.

The distance will it cover using \sf 2 \dfrac{3}{4} litres of petrol = ?

We know that,

\sf 2 \dfrac{3}{4} can also be written as \sf \dfrac{11}{4} or 2.75 litres.

So, considering that car runs 16 km in 1 litre.

How much it will runs in 2.75 litres = ?

\dashrightarrow \sf 1 \ litre \ = \ 16 km

\dashrightarrow \sf 2.75 \ litres = \ ? \ km

\dashrightarrow \sf 16 \ km \ \times 2.75 \ litres

\dashrightarrow \sf 44 \ km

\therefore The distance covered by car in \sf 2 \dfrac{3}{4} litres of petrol is 44 km.
