given,

u=40km/hr =40.1000/3600=40000/3600=400/36

v=10km/hr =10.1000/3600=10000/3600=100/36

time=5sec

therefore,

a=v-u/the

=100/36-400/36÷5=-300/36÷5=-150/36= -50/12m/sec^2

Answer:

Deceleration of 1⅔ m/s²

Explanation:

Acceleration = change in velocity/ change in time.

Change in velocity = final velocity - initial velocity.

Final velocity is equal to = 10 km/h

Initial velocity is equal to = 40 km/h

The change in velocity is equal to = 10 - 40 = - 30 km/h

We convert the speed to m/s :

= 5/18 × 30 = - 8⅓ m/s

The time taken is equal to = 5 seconds

The acceleration is thus given as :

= -8⅓/5 = - 1⅔ m/s²

The negative sign indicates that the body decelerates.

Hence it decelerates by 1⅔ m/s².
