Question :

A car starting from rest is accelerated at the rate of 0.4 m/s² . Find the distance travelled by the car in 20 seconds.

As the car is starting from rest, the initial velocity of the car is 0.

The acceleration of the car is 0.4 m/s²

We have to find the distance travelled by the car in 20 seconds.

According to the second equation of motion

s = ut + ½at²

= 0 × 20 + ½ × (0.4) × 20 × 20

= 0.2 × 20 × 20

= 400 × 0.2

= 80 m

Answer : The car travels a distance of 80m in 20 seconds.
