Answer:

27 km/h

Explanation:

first vel.(v)=36 km/h

first time(t)=10 min=1/6 h

first distance=v×t

=36×1/6= 6 km

second vel.(v')=18 km/h

second time(t')=1/6 h

second distance=v'×t'

=18×1/6=3 km

total dist.=6+3 km=9 km

total time=1/6+1/6=1/3 h

avg. vel.=total dist./total time

=9÷1/3=9×3

=27 km/h

Explanation:

speed= distance/ time

change km/ hr to m/sec

change time mins to sec

speed= 36x5/18= 10 m/sec

18x5/18= 5m/sec

distance traveled in North direction

10m/sec = d 1/10x60

d1= 6000m

distance traveled in East direction

5m/sec = d2/10x60

d2= 3000m

a.v speed = total distance/ total time

= 3000+6000/20x60

= 7.5 m/s

a.v velocity= total displacement/total time

= 3000+6000/20x60

= 7.5m/s
