A car starts from P and follows the path as shown in figure. Finally stops at R. Find the distance traveled and displacement of the carif a=7m, b=8m and r=11/πm ?​

The distance will be 48 m and the displacement will be 36 m

Explanation:

According to the problem the value of a, b, r is given

r = 11/π m = 77/22 m

Now according to the figure, we can see that the total distance is ,

PR = PQ+QR

  = a +πr + b +πR [ where R = 2r as the diameter of that path is given as 4r]

 = 7+ πr +8 +πR   = 15+ 22/7x 77/22 +πR = 15+11 + 22 = 48 m

Therefore the displacement of the car = a+b+ 2r+4r = a+b+2(11/π) +4(11/πr)

                                              = 7+8+7+14 = 36 m
