Given :

  • Initial velocity ( u ) = 0 ( at rest)
  • Acceleration (a ) = 4 m/s²
  • Time (t ) = 2 min

To find :

  • Final velocity ( v)

Solution :

Using the first equation of motion :

  • v = u + at

We will first convert min into sec .

1 min = 60 sec

2 min = 2 × 60 = 120 sec

v = 0 + 4 × 120

v = 0 + 480

v = 480 m/s² .

Hence , the body will have the velocity of 480 m/s² at the end of 2 min .

Velocity :

  • Velocity is the rate of change of displacement per unit time .
  • In simple words , it is speed with direction .
  • It is a vector quantity .
  • Its SI unit is m/s .

Acceleration :

  • Acceleration is the rate of change and f velocity per unit time .
  • It is also a vector quantity .
  • Its SI unit is m/s² .
  • It is zero when the body is in uniform motion .

Given ,

Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s

Acceleration (a) = 4 m/s²

Time (t) = 2 min or 120 sec

We know that , the Newton's first equation of motion is given by

 \boxed{ \sf{v = u + at}}

Thus ,

v = 0 + 4 × 120

v = 480 m/s

 \therefore The velocity of the car at end of 2 mins is 480 m/s
