uniformly. If it travels a distance of 4m in the
first second, what distance will it travel in.

Given :

Initial Velocity of the particle = 0

Distance travelled by the particle in the first second = 4m

To Find :

The distance travelled in 2nd and 3rd second

Solution :

Distance travelled by particlein nth second is given by

     Sn = u + a×(2n-1)/2

  • In first second , Sn = 0 + a×(2-1)/2

                         4 = a / 2

                         acceleration = 8m/s²

  • In second second , Sn = 0 + a×(4-1)/2

                         Sn = 3×a/2

                         Sn = 12m

       Distance travelled by particle in 2nd second is 12m

  • In third second , Sn = 0 + a×(6-1)/2

                         Sn = 5×a/2

                         Sn = 20m

       Distance travelled by particle in 3rd second is 20m
