Given :

Initial Velocity = 0

Distance travelled in first second = 4m

To Find :

The distance travelled in 2nd and 3rd second

Solution :

Distance travelled in nth second is given by

      Sn = u + a(2n-1)/2

  • In first second , Sn = 0 + a(2-1)/2

                          4 = a / 2

                          a = 8m/s²

  • In 2nd second , Sn = 0 + a(4-1)/2

                          Sn = 3a/2

                          Sn = 12m

        Distance travelled in 2nd second is 12m

  • In 3rd second , Sn = 0 + a(6-1)/2

                          Sn = 5a/2

                          Sn = 20m

        Distance travelled in 3rd second is 20m
