A car starts from rest and attains a velocity of 10m/sec in 40 sec the driver applies brakes and slow down the car to 5m/sec in 10sec. Find acceleration of car in both the cases

Answer:

In the first case

initial velocity=0

final velocity=10m/s

time=40s

Acceleration=v-u/t =10-0/40

=0.25m/s^2

In second case.

initial velocity= 10m/s

final velocity=5m/s

Time=10 s.

Acceleration/retardation=v-u/t

=5-10/10

= -0.5m/s^2.
