A car starts from rest and moves along the x-axis with constant acceleration of 5 m/s2 in 8 seconds. It then continues with uniform velocity. What distance will car cover in 12 seconds since it started from the rest?

Answer:

320 m

Explanation:

for first 8 seconds distance covered , S = 1/2at2 as u or intial velocity = 0. Hence distance covered in first 8 seconds is 160 m(put in the formula).

velocity after 8 seconds is v=at, or 40 m/s. For next 4 seconds , it will go 40×4 = 160 m.

so total distance covered 160+160 = 320 m.
