A car starts from rest and moves along the x axis with constant acceleration 5m/s2 for 8 secs. If it then continues with constant velocity,what distance will the car cover in 12 seconds since it started from the rest

part 1: uniform acceleration

u=0 v=? a=5 m/s^2 t=8 sec

using v=u+a*t

we hv v=40 m/s and   distance will be s=1/2*a*t^2..(since u=0)

∴s=1/2(5)(64)

=> s1=160 m

part 2: uniform velocity...v=40 m/s t=12-8=4 sec

wkt.., speed=distance/time

i.e s2=40*4 m  i.e s2=160 m

ttl distance covered s=s1+s2  i.e s=160+160 m=320 m,
