A car starts from rest and moves with uniform accel-
eration of α m/s^2 along a straight line. It then retards
uniformly at a rate β m/s^2 and stops. If 't' is the time
elapsed, then find the average speed of the car.

We should remember that for motion in a straight line (one dimension), distance and displacement both bears same magnitude (or, numerical value).

Answer:

  • A Cardinal Number is a number that says how many of something there are, such as one, two, three, four, five.
  • An Ordinal Number is a number that tells the position of something in a list, such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. Most ordinal numbers end in "th" except for: one ⇒ first (1st)
