the distance time relation is

S = ut + (1/2) at^2

here

u = initial velocity = 0 mps

t = time = 40 s

S = distance = 800 m

a = constant acceleration

800 = 0*40 + (1/2) * a * (40)^2

800 = 0 + (1/2) * a * 1600

800 = 800 * a

a = 800/800

a = 1 mps^2
