Answer:

The acceleration of the given car is 8 m/s.

Explanation:

  • A change in velocity concerning a change in time is called acceleration.
  • It has m/sec as its unit and is expressed by the following equation;

                                                 a=\frac{\delta v}{\delta t}

  • If the change in velocity is constant concerning time, it's called uniform acceleration.
  • The relation of distance, initial velocity, time, and acceleration is given by;

                                            s=ut+\frac{1}{2} at^{2}

where,

                       s = distance

                       u = initial velocity

                       t = time

                       a = acceleration

Here,

u = 0 (as car starts from rest)

s = 100 m

t = 5 sec

                     ∴   100=0+\frac{1}{2}\times a\times 5^{2}

                           a=\frac{200}{25} =8 m/sec

Hence, the car traveling 100 meters in 5 sec will have 8 m/sec uniform acceleration.
