Answer:

  • Acceleration = 2m/s²
  • Distance covered = 50m

Explanation:

Given,

A car starts from rest and attains a velocity of 36km/h in 5 sec.

Converting the velocity into m/s :-

→ 36 ÷ 3.6

→ 10m/s

Acceleration is given by :-

 \sf \longrightarrow \: a =  \dfrac{(v - u)}{t}

Where,

  • v(final velocity) = 10m/s
  • u(initial velocity) = 0m/s [Since, it was at rest]
  • t(time) = 5 sec.

From the given parameters,

 \sf \longrightarrow \: a =  \dfrac{(10 - 0)}{5}

 \sf \longrightarrow \: a =  \dfrac{10}{5}

 \sf \longrightarrow \: a =  2m/s^2

The car accelerated by 2m/

And also, calculating the distance travelled :-

Distance = speed × time

→ 10 × 5

→ 50m

Distance travelled by the car is 50m
