speed =distance /time

speed 1 =

30km/h=distance /30minutes

30km/h × 30/60 hours

= 15 km = distance 1

speed 2=

s =d/t

40km/h=d/1hour

40km = distance 2

so, total distance is equal to 40km +15 km= 55km

and total time is equal to 1 hour + 30/60 hours = 1.5 hours ( after calculating)

so, average speed = total distance / total time

average speed = 55km /1.5 hours

average speed = 11/3 km per hours = 3.7km/h

Total distance travelled by car

1st case:

Speed = Distance / Time

= Distance = speed x Time

= 1/2x30

Distance = 15km

2nd case:

V = S / T

S = V*T

= 1*40

S = 40km

  • Total distance travelled by car = 15+40 = 55km answer

Total time of travel

1/2*60 = 30mins

1*60 = 60mins

= 30+60 = 90mins (one and half hour)

AVERAGE SPEED

  • Average speed= Total Distance/Total time

= 55/1.5 = 36.67

=36.67km/h ANSWER
