To get the answer in SI units...we will do the conversions- 36km/hr * 5/18 = 10m/s 70km/hr*5/18 = 21.5 m/s From 1st equtn of motion- V=u+at (21.5-10)/5 = a a= 2.3 m/s*s Now, the initial speed of the car (u) is 70 km/hr or 21.5m/s and as the car is stopping, The final speed (v) is zero - 0= 21.5 -at 21.5/ 20 = retardation Retardation = 1.075 m/s*s
