car has speed of 30km/hr in 20 min(1/3hr)
therefore distance in 1st 20 min = 30×(1/3)= 10km

car has speed of 45km/he in 20 min(1/3hr)
therefore distance in 2nd 20 min =
45×(1/3)= 15km

therefore total distance travelled in 40 min =
10 + 15 = 25 km
