we know, 1 mile = 5280 feets

so, initial velocity of car, u = 32mi/h = 32 × 5280/3600 ft/s ≈ 46.9 ft/s

displacement travelled by car, s = 598ft

now use formula,s = ut + 1/2at²
598 = 46.9 × 9.7 + 1/2 × a × (9.7)²
598 = 455 + 47a
47a = 598 - 455 ≈ 3 ft/s²

final velocity is v = u + at
= 46.9 + 3 × 9.7 = 46.9 + 29.1
= 76 ft/s

Given: A car traveling 32 mi/h accelerates uniformly for 9.7 s, covering 598 ft in this time. We have to find the acceleration and final velocity. First of all we can convert to f/s.

1 mile = 5280 ft

1 mile / hr = 5280 / 60 x 60 = 5280 / 3600 = 1.4667 f / s

Given u = 32 m / h, t = 9. 7 secs, S = 598 ft

We have the equation S = ut + 1/2 at^2

                                    598 = 46.93 x 9.7 + 1/2 x a x (9.7)^2

                                      a = 142.777 / 47.045

                                       a = 3. 03 f / s^2

We have to find the final velocity

                             V = u + at

                            V = 46.93 + 3.03 x 9.7

                           V = 76.321  f / s
