A car traveling at a speed of 90 km ( 25 m/s) per hour steps after 3 s when the brake is applied. If the mass of the car including passengers is 1200 kg, what is the force applied when the brake is operated?

Answer:

we have initial velocity 90 km/h = 25 m/s

time = 3 second

and mass of car including passenger = 1200 kg

final velocity of a car = 0 m/s we have to find the force

as we know f = mxa

here mass is given but acceleration is not given so we have to find acceleration.

so we have u,v and t

now we have

V = u+at

0 = 25+ax3

0= 25+3a

a = 28 m/s

so acceleration = 28m/s

now we have f= mxa

f = 1200x28=33600 N
