A car, traveling with a uniform acceleration, has a velocity of 18 km/hour at a certain time and 54 km/hour after covering a distance of 500m. How much further will it travel to attain a velocity of 72 km/hour?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

As the car starts from rest,

Initial velocity=u=0m/s

Final velocity(after 10 seconds of accelerating)=v=180km/hr

Thus,v=180km/hr × 5/18=50m/s

acceleration=a=(v-u)/t

a=(50–0)/10=5m/s^2

Using one of the three kinematics equations,

s=ut+1/2at^2,

s=(0×10)+1/2×5×(10)^2

s=1/2×5×100

s=250m
