Answer :-

Average acceleration of the car is -2 m/ .

Explanation :-

We have :-

→ Initial speed (u) = 20 m/s

→ Time taken (t) = 20 seconds

→ The car takes a U-turn.

→ Speed remains same.

To find :-

→ Average acceleration (a) .

________________________________

As the car takes a U-turn, this means it is changing the direction of it's motion. So it's final speed (v) will be = -20 m/s

Now, let's calculate the average acceleration of the car by using the 1st equation of motion.

v = u + at

⇒ -20 = 20 + a(20)

⇒ -20 - 20 = 20a

⇒ -40 = 20a

⇒ a = -40/20

a = -2 m/s²

Given :-

A car travelling at 20 metre per second takes a u turn in 20 second without changing its speed

To Find :-

Acceleration

Solution :-

Since it makes a U-turn. So, the speed will be negative

v = -20 m/s

u = 20 m/s

t = 20 sec

a = a

We know that

a = v - u/t

a = -20 - 20/20

a = -40/20

a = -4/2

a = -2

Hence

Acceleration is -2 m/s²
