Time taken by the car is directly proportional to the distance travelled by it (Time ∝  Distance).

• According to the first set of conditions,

Distance covered by the car (d) = 585 km

Time in which the car covered 585 km (t) = 9 h

• Speed of the car (s) = distance / time

=> s = 585 km / 9 h

=> s = 65 km/h

• According to the second set of conditions,

Distance travelled by the car (d') =

520 km

Speed of the car (s) = 65 km/h

Time (t') = ?

• Time = distance/ speed

=> t' = (520 km) / (65 km/h)

=> t' = 8 h

• From the results, it can be concluded that greater the distance, greater the time taken by the car.

Therefore, distance and time are directly proportional to each other.
