A car travells with a velocity of 72 km/h in 10s , starting from rest .

(b). Average velocity = 10 m / sec

(c) Distance travelled = 100 m

Given :

Initial velocity ( u ) = 0 m / sec

Final velocity ( v ) = 72 km / hr

To convert km / hr into m / sec multiply it by 5 / 18 we get

v = 4 × 5 = 20 m / sec

Time ( t ) = 10 sec

v = u + a t

put the value here

20 = 0 + a × 10

10 a = 20

a = 2 m / sec² .

b.

Average velocity = u + v / 2

Average velocity = 0 + 20 / 2

Average velocity = 20 / 2 = 10 m / sec

We have second equation of motion

s = u t + 1 / 2 a t²

put the value here

s = 0 + 1 / 2 ×  2 × 10 × 10

s = 10 × 10

s = 100 m
