displacement=shortest distance between final and initial positions

total distance covered=1/4*circumference of the circle

=1/4*2πr

=πr/2

total displacement=lenght of hypotenuse of the triangle formed

=√(r²+r²)

=√2r

therefore

distance/displacement=πr/2/√2r

=π/2√2

or

=1.11
