Many students think that average speed refers to the average of two speeds. This is wrong idea. This concept should be thrown out of mind. The ratio of the total distance travelled by a body to the total time of journey is termed as AVERAGE SPEED.
Here the total distance travelled is not 100 metre, but (100+100) metre which you can easily catch out while proceeding the solution normally. Time taken once for going and another for returning. They can add up with each other to give the total time taken. Thus, the numerical can be solved step-by-step.
