Answer:

40.5 kilometers

Explanation:

Given :

  • Speed for first 10 minutes = 108 km/h

  • Speed for next 15 minutes = 90 km/h

To find :

  • Total distance travelled by the car

Distance = speed × time

Distance = 108×1/6 hours = 108/6 = 18 km

In the first 10 minutes 18 km is covered

Distance in next 15 minutes :

Distance = 90×1/4 hours = 22.5 km

Total distance = 22.5+18

Total distance = 40.5 km

The total distance covered by the car is equal to 40.5 kilometres

Given:-

  • Speed of car 108km/h for 10min. (In 1st case)

  • Speed of car 90km/h for 15min.(In2nd case).

To Find:-

  • Total distance covered by car.

Solution :-

we know that,

➦ Speed= distance ×time

In first case

Distance = speed × time

108× 5/18 = 30m/s

➭ d = 30 × 600

➭ d = 18000 ................... (i)

and In second case

Distance = speed × time

90× 5/18 = 25m/s

➭ d'= 25× 900

➭ d' = 22500 ...................(ii)

Adding equation (i) and (ii) we get

d + d' = 40500m

➭ 40500/1000= 40.5km

∴The total distance covered by car 40.5 km.
