a car travels 20 km at uniform speed of 40 km per hour and next 20 km at uniform speed of 60 kilometre per hour.calculate the average speed for the whole journey.

Time taken by the car to travel first 20km=20/40=1/2hrs.
Time taken by the car to travel another 20km=20/60=1/3hrs
Total time=1/2+1/3=5/6hrs
Average speed=total distance/total time
=40/5/6=48km/hr
