GIVEN :

  • Distance = 200 km
  • Speed 1 = 50 km/h
  • Speed 2 = 30 km/h

TO FIND :

  • Average speed of whole journey

SOLUTION :

Here distance 1 = Distance 2

→ Total distance = 200 + 200

Total distance = 400 km

Now we know that,

Time × Speed = Distance

→ Time 1 = 200/50

Time 1 = 4 h

Again,

→ Time 2 = 200/30

Time 2 = 6.67 h

Now we go to find average speed :

Average speed = Total distance/Total time

Substituting values,

→ Average speed = 400/(4 + 6.67)

→ Average speed = 400/10.67

Average speed = 37.49 km/h

Average speed of car = 37.49 km/h

Given:

  • Speed of car = 50km/h
  • Distance travelled = 200km
  • Returning Speed of car = 30 km/h

To find:

  • Average speed of car

Solution:

total distance

For 2 trips = 2(200)

Total distance = 400

Finding time using

Time = distance/speed

→ t1 = 200/50

→ t1 = 4hrs

→ t2 = 200/30

→ t2 = 6.6 hrs

Total time = t1 + t2

→ total time = 4 + 6.6

Total time = 10.6 hrs

Average speed = Total distance/Total time

→ Avg. Speed = 400/10.6

Avg speed = 37.73 km/h. [Answer]
