A car travels 30 km at a uniform speed of 40km/h and the next 30 km at a uniform speed of 30km/h.find its average speed

Ans. Average speed = 34.28km/h

Explanation:

Since, speed=distance /time

Therefore, time=distance/speed

So,

T1=D1/S1

T1=30/40 hr

T1=3/4hr

Similarly

T2=D2/S2

T2=30/30hrs

T2=1hr

Now,average speed=total distance travelled /total time taken

Ave. speed =(30+30)km/(3/4+1)hrs

=60*4/7km/hr

=240/7 km/hr

=34.28km/hr
