Step-by-step explanation:

he covers 60km in 1hr30 min

distance travelled = 60km

time taken =1 hr 30 min = 90min

speed = distance travelled/ time taken

v = 60/ 90 = 2/3 km/ min

To travel 100 km ,

2/3 = 100/ time taken

time taken = 150 min

= 2hrs 30min

GIVEN :

A car travels 60 Km in 1 hr 30 min.

TO FIND :

Time taken to cover a distance of 100 Km at the same speed.

FORMULA USED :

speed =  \frac{distance}{time}

 time=  \frac{distance}{speed}

1 \: minute =  \frac{1}{60} \:  hours

SOLUTION :

First we will convert 1 hr 30 min into hours :-

we know :-

⟹1 \: minute =  \frac{1}{60} \:  hours

⟹30 \: minutes =  (\frac{1}{60}  \times 30 )\: hours

⟹30 \: minutes \: =  \frac{1}{2}\: hours

Now ,

⟹1 hr 30 min = (1 +  \frac{1}{2})  \: hours

⟹1 hr 30 min = \frac{3}{2} \: hours

Therefore , the car travels 60 Km in 3/2 hours.

[ 3/2 can also be written as 1.5 ..... refer attachment to know how fraction is converted into decimal ]

Distance and time is given , so we will find speed by using the given formula:-

⟹speed =  \frac{distance}{time}

⟹speed =  \frac{60}{1.5}

⟹speed =  \frac{600}{15}

⟹speed =  40 \frac{km}{h}

Now we have to find Time taken to cover a distance of 100 Km at the speed of 40km/h by using the given formula :-

⟹time=  \frac{distance}{speed}

⟹time=  \frac{100}{40}

⟹time=  \frac{5}{2}

[5/2 = 2.5 ...... kindly check the attachment for the conversion of fraction into decimals]

therefore time taken to cover 100km at the speed of 40km/h = 2.5 hours .

ANSWER :

2.5 hours

Few more Formulae :-

1. 1 hour = 60 minutes

2. 1 minute = 60 seconds

3. 1 hour = 3600 seconds

4. distance = speed × time
