Given

  • Distance travelled by the car = 60 km
  • Time taken by the car = 1 hr 30 min

To find

  • Time the car will take to cover 100 km at the same speed.

Solution

Firstly, we will convert the time from 1 hr and 30 min to hours.

⟼ Time = 1 + 30/60

⟼ Time = 1 + 3/6

⟼ Time = 1 + 1/2

⟼ Time = 1 + 0.5

⟼ Time = 1.5 hr

Using formula,

❖ Speed = Distance/Time

Substituting the given values,

⟼ Speed = 60/1.5

⟼ Speed = (60 × 10)/15

⟼ Speed = 600/15

⟼ Speed = 40

★ Speed of the car = 40 km/hr

Now, by using the same speed we have to find the time the car will take to cover the distance of 100 km.

Using formula,

❖ Time = Distance/Speed

Substituting the given values,

⟼ Time = 100/40

⟼ Time = 10/4

⟼ Time = 2.5

★ Time the car will take to cover a distance of 100 km = 2.5 hr or 2 hours and 30 minutes.
