Let me clear one thing first, quarter here means 1/4hr

we divide 1 in four parts is a quarter

So for the first quarter T1 = 1/4 hr and D1 = 8 km, S1 = D1/T1 = 32 km/hr

for Second Quarter T2 = 1/4 hr and D2  = 6 km, S2 = D2/T2 = 24 km/hr

for third quarter T3 = 1/4 hr and D3 = 16 km , S3 = D3/T3 = 64 km/hr

Average Speed = (S1 + S2 + S3)/3

=  (32 + 24 + 64)/3

=40 km/hr

If there'll be any  confusion regarding the quarter part at the start you can put it up on the comment box

Happy Learning :)
