A car travels a certain distance with a speed of 50km/hr ,while returning the speed reduces to 40km/hr. Calculate the average speed for the entire journey .

Average speed =50+40÷2=90÷2=45km/hr..

let the distance be xkm... for each side then
time taken to go there = X /50
time taken to return = X/ 40
total time = ( X/40)+(X/50)
total time = 90x/2000
average speed = total distance/ total time
= 2x/(90x/2000)
= 2*2000/90
= 4000/90
=( 400/9 ) km / hour
