A car travels a distance A to B at a speed of 40 km/h and returns to point A at a speed of 30 km/h.

The total distance and time taken are not given so let the distance be x and time be t.

Average speed = total distance covered / total time taken

= 2 (distance between A to B) / total time

= 2x / t

Total time = x/40 + x/30

Eliminating the value of t in the average speed,

Average speed = 2x / (7x/120)

= 240/7 km/hr

Since the car returns to A hence the displacement is 0.

Therefore the velocity = 0
