A car travels along a straight line for first half time with speed 40 km//h and the second half time with speed 60 km//h. Find the average speed of the car.

40=d1/t

60=d2/t

d1=40t

d2=60t

time is same in the question for both the cases

avg speed= total distance/ total time

=d1+d2/t+t

=40t +60t/2t

=t(40+60)/2t

= 100/2(both time is cancelled)

=50km/h
