A car travels along a straight line for the first half time with a speed of 40 km /hour and the second half time with a speed of 600 km/hour .find the average speed of the car.

the formula for average speed = total distance/total time.
let the time taken is t hours.

so distance traveled in first t/2 hours.
=40×t/2=20t.

distance traveled in second t/2 hours.
=60(t/2)=30t.

so total distance=20t +30t=50t km.

average speed=50t/t=50kmph
