A car travels at a speed of 64mph and its fuel consumption is 28 mpg. It has a 11 gallon tank which was full when it started but at that very moment began to leak fuel. After 112 miles the car stops with a completely empty tank. How many gallons per hour was it losing?

Hey Dear,

● Answer -

Gallons lost per hour = 6.286 gallons/hr

◆ Explanation -

Time taken by the car to empty the fuel tank is -

Time = distance / velocity

Time = 112 / 64

Time = 1.75 hrs

No of gallons lost per hour are calculated by -

Gallons lost per hour = Total / hrs

Gallons lost per hour = 11 / 1.75

Gallons lost per hour = 6.286 gallons/hr

Hope that was useful..
