let S be distance traveled by the car after application of brake

given

initialvelocity of car after applying brakes (u) 30 m/s

retardation of the car (a)=(v-u)/t

a=(0-30)/8

a=-30/8

a=-15/4 m/s^2

according to the equation of motion

{( v^2 - u^2 )=2aS} final velocity v=0

0-30^2=2×(-15/4)×S

S= (-900×2)/(-15)

S =120m

the distance travelled by the car travel after the brakes are applied is 120 meters
